Dark Horse Wine Bar is the first and longest running tasting room within the city limits of Newberg, Oregon. Up until 1966 Newberg was a dry town, with no spirits of any kind being served legally, making Newberg one of only two dry towns in all of Oregon. Wine bars and tasting rooms were uncommon practice until Hal Medici opened Dark Horse Wine Bar in 2006.
Dark Horse began with, and currently maintains, an inventory of wines from 3 separate wineries:
Medici Vineyards, Sineann, and Ferraro Cellar. Dark Horse is able to provide visitors with the opportunity to taste and purchase a broad spectrum of wines, made with grape varietals from a number of sites in the Pacific Northwest, and even some wines from Napa, California as well as Marlborough and Central Otago in New Zealand.
We are located in the heart of the Willamette Valley wine country. Tucked away in a wooded setting and located directly upstairs from SUBTERRA - A Wine Cellar Restaurant. Dark Horse maintains a strong heritage and selection, proudly serving some of the finest and oldest wines in The Willamette Valley, yet still remaining a relatively unknown to most.
On your next visit to Oregon wine country, don't miss finding one of Newberg's best kept secrets, Dark Horse Wine Bar, which is certainly a unique venue in which to sample an incredible selection of white wines, Pinot Noir and some of the biggest reds in all of the land. Check the current hours and visit us to experience the full spectrum of the Pacific Northwest wine bounty!
